Mapazi of Little Ndaba

What does it mean to be a Mapazi of Little Ndaba?

As soon as you welcome one of our animals into your family, you become a “Mapazi of Little Ndaba”. "Mapazi” in Nyanja means “footstep”. You will be creating a footstep in Little Ndaba’s journey. Being a “Mapazi of Little Ndaba” means you stand for the preservation and protection of our beautiful planet. You also stand for the empowerment of Zambian women.

Women Empowerment

When you purchase a Little Ndaba animal, you are giving back to our planet. Little Ndaba has five different collections that each give back to a different aspect of environmental and wildlife conservation. Snuggle Collection raises funds for species protection. Safari Collection is passionate about habitat protection. Zambezi Kids Collection cares about combatting human animal conflict. Manzi Sea Pod Collection, created in response to the climate crisis, gives back to ocean care. Finally, our Conservation Collection tells the stories of real animals on the ground and the conservation organizations that work to protect them.

When you purchase a Little Ndaba animal, you are contributing to giving our women independence and financial support. Little Ndaba takes a skill that has been passed down through generations and allows women to turn it into income, in their own homes, on their own time. For many women in Zambia, earning an income is made difficult due to a lack of education and opportunity, as well as the need to look after large families. Little Ndaba’s model affords women the opportunity to control how much they earn due to production based payments. As a result of this opportunity, the women also develop basic financial skills.

The Mapazi Map

We are always very excited to find out where in the world our animals find their new homes and chosen humans. Wherever our toys end up living, and any adventures they take, creates a footprint in Little Ndaba’s journey. Help us fill the map!
